Shropshire's heritage of Parks and Gardens |
The Shropshire Parks and Gardens Trust was formed in 1996.
The Shropshire Parks and Gardens Trust seeks to document, conserve and interpret Shropshire's heritage of historic parks and gardens and support good practice in the design of contemporary public parks and open spaces.
The Trust is registered with The Charity Commission (Registered Charity No 1076257) and aims:-
1. To promote the education of the public on matters connected with the arts and sciences of parks and gardens;
2. To preserve, enhance and re-create for the education and enjoyment of the public whatever garden land may exist or have existed in and around the County of Shropshire.
The Trust has an active programme of talks, garden visits and other events (click on the link below). Many of the garden visits are to properties which are not normally open to the public.

NEW! STUDENT BURSARY SCHEME
The Trust offers a limited number of bursaries of up to £250 each to assist with the purchase of items such as cameras, memory cards, books and other resources and equipment to support your studies. Financial assistance towards travelling expenses and short courses to enhance a student's study are also valid reasons for consideration by the Trust. Your course must involve an element of study connected with parks, gardens or designed landscapes. Click on the following link for more information.
The Trust is always keen to have new members. Please contact the Secretary for details.
Non-members are also very welcome to attend talks and events for a modest charge.
Any members willing to take a more active part in the Society are invited to contact the Secretary to discuss the possibility of serving on the Committee or helping in other ways.
New Trustees are also very welcome - especially persons with knowledge or experience in gardening, garden history, landscape design, publicity or finance for example. Please contact either the Chairman or the Secretary.
