The Well Connected Gardener - Shropshire Parks and Gardens Trust Lecture Thursday 21st January 2016
21st January 2016
The next talk of the Shropshire Parks & Gardens Trust Winter Lecture Programme on Thursday 21st January is: The Well Connected Gardener by Sue Minter.
An account of Alicia Amherst, revealing a woman of remarkable gifts and energy. Passionate about plants and gardens and an observant botanist and practical gardener. She travelled extensively and was active in politics, particularly for the benefit of women. Coming from a privileged background Amherst was, in every sense, 'well-connected' - she used her connections well as we shall hear!
Sue Minter, one time Curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden, and author of 'The Well-Connected Gardener', the first biography of Alicia Amherst, distinguished Victorian and Edwardian Horticulturist.
Lectures start at 7.30pm and take place at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust HQ, 193 Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury SY2 6AH. Lectures are preceded by tea, coffee and biscuits. Guests are welcome.
Free evening parking is available in the adjacent Abbey Foregate car park.
